The Life Plan of Suni Lesu

Wellness Where its Well

After high school there are numerous things I want to do and accomplish in my life. My aspirations aren’t much different than the average person, but it will still take a lot of hard work to get to where I want to be. I have many goals, but to accomplish these goals I have to get through the many obstacles that could get in the way.  I am already enrolled in community college and plan on working maybe 20 hours per week in addition to attending classes full time.  I will live with my parents for a while and then move into an apartment in Fallbrook.  I will be focusing my spare time on becoming a better human being and a hard working member of society

Emotional Wellness

My plan for emotional wellness and how it can improve in my future is to practice empathy. By practicing empathy I will be able to create

My Sister and me at Calavera Hills

more comfortable relationships and friendships. In these friendships I will work to finding trust. In these relationships will be more vibrant. People want to be associated with people who are personable. This makes comfort mutual between two or more persons. To have empathy is to look at things in more than one perspective. This will allow me to build strong relationships

I also plan on practicing talking to people with different beliefs in life, because it’s the hardest thing in the world to change someone’s mind when they are already convinced. Often times when people argue a point, they wound up attacking the other person rather than the argument. I will do my best to see things through the person’s eyes so that my argument will not necessarily be stronger but more logical and professional. Once you start attacking the person rather than the argument it becomes irrelevant and you have lost your argument.

Environmental Wellness

My plan for environmental wellness is to practice a sustainable lifestyle. I will practice turning off water faucets and keeping my water usage at a certain number throughout the year. I will apply dripping systems to my house. Not only will change my usage of water, I will change my approach on electricity. I will not keep things plugged in overnight. I will not sleep with my phone ny where near me because the phone will release radiation and that’s not only bad for the environment but this is very bad for your health.

Often times I take the use of water for granted. I will not a water bottle fully and toss it the recycle bin. I want to do my best on not loitering and making sure that I put my trash into a waste been. I will practicing thinking of the affect of my actions toward the environment and all of the living organisms on it. I will constantly be checking my car so that I’m not releasing polluting oil onto the streets that could heat up and release chemicals. I will participate in beach cleanups to bring more awareness on the health of marine life in the pacific ocean.

So with this budget I am hoping to save enough money to survive through college and hopefully be able to pay my parents some money. This is my minimum budget but my aim is to save more money than this. My hopes are to use the remaining savings after a certain amount of time invest my money.

Intellectual Wellness

Some people wish they were smart. A lot of people don’t know what it means to be smart. I’ve often asked myself the question what makes a person smarter than another? I do not have the answer to to this question but I do know that studying and trying to soak in as much useful information at a time can help a person, especially in moments of survival. I plan on increasing my knowledge through listening. Listening is not something that everyone is fond of but it’s a very useful tool in life.

To increase my intellect I will practice reading a lot more often. I do like to read autobiographies because I’m more interested in the person than I am of their accomplishments. It’s the person that worked to attain his or her success and it takes a different type of person to be disciplined throughout the years to achieve a long term goal. This is why I will read more often and try to base my motivations in life off those who have worked hard to mold the way. Reading really helps with intellect.

Occupational Wellness

I want to be a Financial Analyst in a bank. A Financial Analyst is the position in a bank where you sit down with clients and you show them stock trends and advise them on where they should invest their money. In order to do this and work in this line of work I will attend Mira Costa College and complete all of my lower business majors. I will then transfer into Cal State San Marcos and begin to work up on my certificates in hopes of getting my masters. I will do my best and will also contact our guest speaker Johnson and Johnson.

I definitely think that this line of work is a very good fit me for me I know that I am a very good ¨coach¨ I very much like the idea of mentoring younger men and women. I would make my plan b to be a business teacher here at Vista High School. I am very interested in public education and with the way our school is moving I am ould be more than proud helping this process. With my Masters degree I know that my pay will be prestige’s and that’s good for me being that I want a family of my own.

Physical Wellness

I was 238 lbs. My goal was to drop down 200 lbs by april. I have already started doing cardio everyday for at least 30 mins. I don’t eat after 5 or 6 depending on what time eat dinner. Football is no longer in my life so I don’t feel the need to bulk up and lift massive weight. I mainly want to just start something new this year so I’m definitely changing my life as a whole. I am starting to eat more throughout my day.I did not reach 200 by the end of april. I managed to reach 215 this month. I am very proud and to just help myself in the future I’m hoping to keep myself active by working out everyday. This goal is very attainable for me. I can’t see myself in a state of being where I’m letting myself go. I believe in the future by keeping myself physically fit, I will definitely be very happy.

Spiritual Wellness

Social Wellness

Teenagers, Brands, and Payments…Great.

Teenagers…Brand Conscious?

Whether or not teenagers are brand conscious is not a question that needs to be answered. It has already been answered by the naked eye of anyone who either has been one or been around teenagers. Now that we have answered that question, one still remains…why? The medial frontal cortex, this part of our brain looks at brands and also determines our social status. Our brains will organize certain things in our life and this part of our brain organizes things in our life that ill bring us social benefits and there was a social dilemma that kids have created for themselves. A brand is an ascension of themselves and they want to find that. This is where peer pressure is formed. For instance, Cars they will provide you with reasons for buying the car, obviously. So one will say you are saving the earth and the world and another will say you worked hard and you are an american you deserve to live how you want and that this car is a symbol of your work in high class.

Brands On The Rise

In the 1950s people didn’t have social status to go around and so people would create their own. This comes from the brain and most commonly children are the ones to create their own view on social status. Brands like Apple chose to come out with a more rebel approach. Apple referred to their competition as ¨lemmings¨ . In one of there advertisements, Apple showed their competitors walking off of a cliff. Brands like ¨Vans¨ or ¨BRIXTN¨  are really popular in today’s day in age.

Payment Time

The same as when choosing brands its honestly all the same. The only difference is the situation. So what your brain does is it triggers a reaction of you thinking bout the consequences of your pocket. Its different when paying for something  you dont necessarily want to pay for. You are looking for short term benefits most of the time even when you dont realize that they are short term. Anything long term it just wont make you happy at the moment.  The world is always looking for instant gratification.

¨Assumption…The Mother of All Screw Ups¨

My Own Assumptions

I was born in Oceanside, California which is not far at all from the great city of Vista, California. In Oceanside, people are very high end and the community is very diverse in the sense that people are not very tight knit. They are very clicky and different. Before I moved to Vista I have always assumed that Vista was saturated with Hispanics and was very poor. I thought is was an ugly and boring city. I was a hundred percent wrong.

Vista California is one of the most tight knit communities I have ever been around. It is very home grown and there are not very many places on the coast where you will find a community so involved it each other. If the local high school hires a new head football coach the community is not ashamed to voice there own opinion whether good or bad. The kids here have all grown up together and so have all of their parents. Its pretty cool to see this community grow up-close.

Outer Assumptions

Many people at first glance would think exactly how I did. There are lots of Hispanics in Vista and the school district had the lowest paid staff for a while. There are lots of areas in the city homes are filled with working class families. But to limit your minds at that observation is pretty sad. Vista is a community that is growing and becoming so much better, there are so many people who care about not only the growth of the city but the growth of the students. For instance Vista High School is changing into open education and the community has come celebrated with the High School. Theres no better feeling than to play a high school football game when the crowd is saturated with alumni and their families, the passion of the Vista crowd roars as if their in a Colosseum.

Inequality for All

If I told someone about this film

If I were to come home and tell someone about this film, I would start by asking them what they thought of  the gap of wealth distribution between the upper one percent and the middle/working class. I mention how the tax system hinders the lower classes because they are being taxed at a higher rate than those in the upper class.

I would  ask them what they felt like could be done. There would be a lot to think about with this situation. With the way the economy is run is it possible to bring the structure to where everyone had equality for income. I myself could not think of anyway that this issue could be addressed or solved. It doesn’t sit well with the mind that this issue may never change

How to be a Defensive End

I know What I’m Talking About

Football has always been apart of my life. I was introduced to football at a very young age; At 5 years old I was already watching full Oakland Raider games. The Raiders were not very successful then and haven’t consistently been in the past. I never officially played football until my freshman year of high school; I played all four years. I was a varsity football player for three years and was captain my senior year.

What is a Defensive End?

A defensive end is a position in american football. They are on defense (obviously) and there primarily lined up on the ends of the defensive line, hence the word ¨end.¨ There main job is to make sure that the offensive doesn’t have a free release to their end of the line. Defensive ends are usually bulky, long armed, tall, and very fast body types. Defensive ends compete with very large athletes.

As a defensive lineman you get hit every play. It is important not only to make sure your body is not only strong but healthy. Health is most important because your body will experience an unnecessary amount of hits. This all happens with the following gear on: helmet, shoulder pads, thigh pads, knee pads. Its always an incentive to adjust your body to the gear before heading straight into full practices and ga,es.

How to be a Defensive end

  1. Know the game- When in doubt just know how to contain your outside shoulder side of the field, ¨outside contain.¨

2.Hand Work- Fast hands and technique with violent explosion are very useful. Moves include swim, rip, bend, stick, jam, ice-pick,etc.

      3. Heart- To be successful it takes relentless effort. No opponent is going to let you beat them. Ever.

      4. Leverage- Always be lower than your opponent. ¨ The lower man always wins¨

       5. No Fear- As a defensive lineman you get hit every play, this position requires the most contact on the field.

An example of a hand technique ¨Swim¨

Sleep Difficulties and Food…They Do Not Go together

Why Sleep Difficulties?

Image result for sleep problems picturesNot everyone consistently deals with these issues, but everyone has dealt with them in their life time. Sometimes they occur then it seems that they disappear. Food is one of the main factors that can trigger sleep disorders. I chose this topic because I have experience with these issues(a little more than I should). I am fascinated with sleep and I like food, what better way than to combine the two?

I enjoy both of these topics. I struggle with maintaining my love for food. I always am having problems with sleep, whether I am having trouble sleeping or I am waking up too late. It was an eye-opener when I learned that these topics were connected. I started to put the puzzle pieces together.

Sleep Disorders:                     Image result for sleep disorders in adults

  • Sleep Apnea.
  • Leg Cramps.
  • Insomnia.
  • Restless Legs Syndrome.
  • Narcolepsy.
  • Snoring.

Diets Cause Sleep Difficulties

Image result for fat food pictures clip art

Through my studies of the connection of food and sleep difficulties, I have found that certain types of food can affect a persons sleep. For example, Eating a heavy meal before sleep can causing the feeling of bloating the next day. Also, the time between a meal and sleep is very crucial because the human body needs at least four full hours to digest the food; When a person falls asleep with food still in their stomach, the body will turn the food into sugars and sugars turn into fat. The common issue is an unhealthy diet, like sweets and greasy food.

Diet Not For Sleep:

  • Chocolate
  • Sugary/Sweets
  • Greasy Food
  • Spicy Food
  • Alcohol

A Diet Change and Exercise

By making your diet healthier you can sleep a lot better, its simple. Increasing the amount of time between a meal and sleep could really help your body digest and breakdown all that food properly. I chose an adult audience because diets are real big issue with middle age people. My hopes are that people will accept my advice and eat healthier. A little exercise can help the body have a deeper sleep. After exercise, the body will be tired and fall asleep faster.

Trust Fund…Guess The Rest are not Trustworthy

¨Hello there! Eric the Banker¨

My partner David Maynes and I had multiple questions concerning the concept of banking. One question that interested us was ¨What is a Trust Fund?¨. We decided to ask Mr. Eric Campbell what this was. Mr. Eric explained that a Trust Fund is usually a mutual fund between a parent and a minor or a student. In this mutual fund, a parent or guardian puts aside money in an account intended for the minor. The money can not be touched by the minor until a certain time, the amount of time depends on depositor. He assured us that they were usually truthful. Thank you Mr.Eric!

2 More Questions and Sources

  1. Is there a penalty for touching the money in the Trust Fund by the recipient or the depositor?
  2. Could the depositor cancel the Trust Fund at anytime after

According to The Bank of The West website, 401k is offered. I wanted to know if this highers a persons chance of receiving a loan? Also, is this a necessity? if so does it depend on my income and what would encourage employers to offer this to an employee. I heard that this was very beneficial.

I Earned Some Knowledge

I definitely learned a lot from this experience.  I’ve over heard conversations between my parent and my older siblings concerning Trust Funds and I always wondered what that meant. I honestly thought that the only trustworthy fund was a Trust Fund…that is pretty sad. Although this activity was very short, it was most definitely useful and worthwhile. It was very nice to get information from an actual banker.

Evolution of the Music Revolution

¨Fight Songz¨

How has protests in the form of music affected social and political issues of the past?

images

Slavery Influence

Music has always been a way to express yourself and how you feel. It has always affected the people who hear it.  In 1865- 1877 slaves used music to express themselves and let their masters know that no matter how badly they were treated they were still human beings. The song that we chose from this era was “Go Down Moses” the is about how Moses went down and freed his people from pharaoh. I interpreted it as they want Moses to come to the plantations and repeat what he did to his people for them since his people were slaves until he freed them they hope that that will happen to them.

Great Depression opens up Blues

Music has changed its form many times in the 1920’s-1930’s the Blues was the main form of music that they listened to. We chose “When Johnny Comes Marching Home Again” because it was talking about the sad times of the war and how when people came back they were not treated as veterans but as a nobody. They were only treated good when the first got home like in the song how it says When Johnny comes marching home again Hurrah! Hurrah! We’ll give him a hearty welcome then Hurrah! Hurrah! The men will cheer and the boys will shout The ladies they will all turn out And we’ll all feel gay When Johnny comes marching home.” It is saying how happy they will be when the soldiers come home but they are only happy on day and the rest of the days after that it’s just like a normal day.

Freedom for our Folk

imagesIn the 1950’s and 1960’s there was a lot of social discomfort between races and sexes. The song that we picked to show how some people change their social views after this song is “This Land is Your Land” it is a song about equality for everyone. In the end of this song it says “One bright sunny morning in the shadow of the steeple By the Relief Office I saw my people — As they stood hungry,” he never says what color or sex they are he just say my people and I’m pretty sure it wasn’t just white people who were hungry but all kinds of races, ages, and sex that need food to feed their families or themselves. It also says this land is everyone’s, people realized what is really meant and started treating everyone equally, however; most people didn’t change their views.

screenshot-2016-12-10-at-8-58-00-pm The song that we chose in the 1960s-1970s is Fortunate Son because it was supposed to imageschange political minds since this is an anti-war song.It was written during the Vietnam war since it was televised many people didn’t like what they saw the song was the a key factor to start a peaceful civil protest to end the war. The song influenced many people and also put political people in bad place to listen to the people or to keep the war going and upset the public.

Blow the Trumpet

yg-macklemore-g-eazy-fuck-donald-trump-00For our modern day song we chose F*** Donald Trump we chose this because it is showing hatred towards Donald Trump and saying how there are many bad things about him and how no one should vote for him in the election. The song is also confronting racism and discrimination in today’s world. This song was meant to make racism and discrimination more noticeable and also to show that Donald Trump himself is racist. The song could be seen as a pro Hillary Clinton song. It influenced people to not vote for Donald Trump it also probably  influenced Donald Trump to not be so discriminating and racist during his speeches. This song was heard by many of today’s youth and it most likely influenced them to not like Donald trump. It is also a catchy song.

Is it because he´s black?

Its Been Going On For Too Long

screenshot-2016-12-08-at-9-40-43-pmThe stereotypical black man being the ¨criminal¨ is without a doubt wrong. This form of hatred dates back as far as slavery and the Jim Crow era. Racism and Discrimination towards black men in America has grown rapidly within the last few years. There are black men being killed by KKK members. There are unarmed black men being brutally beaten or even killed by police.

Causes:

Police Brutality

Police brutality needs to be stopped, It is the most popular for of discrimination towards black males today.  Police killed at least 102 unarmed black people in 2015, nearly twice each week (MappingPoliceViolence). It’s not a question of how many blacks were killed by police opposed to whites because Unarmed black people were killed at 5x the rate of unarmed whites in 2015 (MappingPoliceViolence). This goes to show how crucial this topic has been in our society today. Also, 37% of unarmed people killed by police were black in 2015 despite black people being only 13% of the U.S. population(MappingPoliceViolence). Nearly 1 in 3 black people killed by police in 2015 were identified as unarmed, though the actual number is likely higher due to under reporting(MappingPoliceViolence).

What is Being Done?

According to NewsOne, nothing significant is being done about this form of discrimination. Black males are often stereotyped as a criminal and it has been going on for decades. The five things that are being one are not being done by higher officials. All attempts to stop this issue is being done by communities. People are protesting; They are recording police brutality. Citizens are voting out politicians who condone police brutality. Communities engage in dialogue with police; They are taking legal actions and suing police departments.

Graph Showing Police Targeting Blacks Most

We will aproach this proposal by:

  • Write a petition to Anthony Barela
  • Discuss with ASB on putting together a fundraiser(get students involved)
  • Meet with the superintendent of Vista Unified School District(Publicity)
  • Make open to community (ideas, donations, etc.)
  • Write letters of interests to local companies(get community involved)

Make This Public To Everyone

Many people feel the need to violently protest against these matters. Others are publicizing issues or even composing songs. My partner Erick Mejicanos  and I have decided to create a mural that portrays not only peace but equity in treatment for black males who are being stereotyped. We will incorporate many issues that fall into this category including  police brutality and affected communities . In this Mural, we hope to not only promote awareness of this issue but give positive input. Our purpose is to give hope to those who are dealing with this issue by letting them know that there are people out there who understand that something needs to be done. We also want to educate the community on how African American males are being discriminated in society; there are multiple aspects that show this. For instance: Police Brutality, educational equity, job equality. This mural is supposed to encourage people to not only stop stereotyping blacks but to stop stereotyping period.

Lottery…They Earn More Money Than Your Playing For

mckinleynationalexpansionunclesampulitzer

Cmon America!

Americans are not very good at saving. Half of american adults do not have enough money saved in their accounts toscreenshot-2016-12-08-at-10-37-57-am aid them in an incident or downfall. Half of US adults buy lottery tickets every year. This has definitely caught my interest because I know lots of people who buy lottery tickets, and they buy them often! 2/3 of Americans gamble in the form of buying lottery tickets.

They really do make more than your gambling for

I know people who buy lottery tickets every week. Study´s show that ⅕ adults believe the lottery is their only chance of owning hundreds of thousands of dollars. 40% of Americans making under 20 thousand dollars a year use the lottery and the lower income saving rates are the lowest among all incomes. So to sum that up, poor people are just becoming even poorer every year.

Lottery System worth it?

stock-vector-man-greedy-of-money-cartoon-vector-264393014This topic interests me because one lottery booth can make up to 8 million dollars a year. So all of those people who buy a lottery ticket weekly and yearly are spending more than they are gambling for. The people who sell lottery tickets make up to 8 million dollars( that´s yearly) and buyers are hoping to win 100,000$ once? Hypothetically, Those who have been gambling for a couple years have all together spent up to 48,000,000$ a year opposed the one or two million they are hoping for. Not to mention that the lottery system is stated owned and they make lots of money off of the process. Thats what they want…more money and what better way to get it than to take it from the the worst money savers in the world, Americans.
